Click It or Ticket campaign nets nearly 300 traffic stops in Buffalo, Hall counties

KEARNEY, GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office recently completed a Click It or Ticket Mobilization Selective Traffic Enforcement campaign conducted throughout the county.
The enforcement went from May 15 - June 4 with deputies accounting for 96.5 hours of additional coverage.
The campaign was funded through a mini-grant from the Nebraska Department of Highway Safety Office.
Sheriff’s deputies specifically working the grant had a total of 154 traffic contacts -- 26 citations were issued for various traffic violations and 128 warning/defect cards were issued for various infractions. Additionally, on duty road patrol deputy’s issued 26 citations and 111 warning/defect cards.
During the campaign there were 10 citations issued for a violation of a safety belt/child safety seat, two arrests for driving under influence and three arrests for driving under suspension/revocation. Deputies issued 32 citations for speeding.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office also took part in the focused enforcement. They were awarded $6,061 through a “Click It or Ticket” grant.
During this campaign, deputies made 136 contacts including 15 seat belt citations, two DUI arrests, two drug citations, and 23 speeding citations.
The primary objective of the campaign was to increase seat belt usage rates, and thereby reducing serious injuries and fatalities in traffic accidents.
