Better chances of showers and thunderstorms the next couple of days
June 9, 2023 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It’ll be another warm day today with a mix of clouds and sun. There’s also a little more smoke in the atmosphere today compared to recent days. There is a slight chance of a few showers and thunderstorms this morning, but a better chance will come to the area during the mid to late afternoon hours. These will continue into this evening before chances come down a bit after midnight. While the severe weather threat isn’t terribly high, the chances for a few severe storms with some large hail and severe gusts can’t be ruled out. Look for highs in the mid to upper 80s. A few could be near 90°. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 50s and low to mid 60s.
Saturday brings the area another good chance of showers and thunderstorms as the day goes on. The better chance will be during the mid to late afternoon and into the evening as a cold front starts to sink southward through the area. Once again, our area is not highlighted for a severe weather threat. But a little isolated severe weather will certainly be possible. Later in the night, that threat will come down. Some cooler air will begin to move in to the north on Saturday. Highs will be in the 70s up north, but will be in the low to mid 80s across the southern half of the area. By Sunday morning, the front will be through most of the area, and will continue southward. Some showers may linger into the morning, but will be pushing south with the cold front. It’ll be a cooler day for everybody with highs mainly in the 70s. The air will also be less humid and winds will be on the breezy side out of the north.
Temperatures will still be slightly below average to start off next week and will gradually warm up as the week goes on. There will be nearly daily chances (at least slight chances) for showers and thunderstorms each day. While we may see more traditional west to east moving storms, there’s nothing that screams out major severe weather threat as of right now. Monitor future updates for more information.
