Chris Schukei to lead Hastings Public Schools Foundation

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A familiar face will be the new head of the Hastings Public Schools Foundation.

Chris Schukei, the current dean of admissions for Hastings College, has been selected to take on the role of executive director.

The foundation board unanimously approved the hire as the foundation’s current executive director Craig Kautz is set to retire later this month.

Schukei’s no stranger to the foundation as he previously served on the foundation board as its president and has been involved with the school board and foundation for many years.

“I was a big believer in the mission of what they do, which is to create great opportunities for Hastings Public Schools students,” he said. “So with the opportunity I thought this was something I believed in and would be a part of that.”

Schukei says he plans to bring his knowledge in higher education to the district.

“Education in Hastings is vital for the strength of the community,” he said. “Ultimately it’s about making Hastings great with all of these great educational opportunities.”

The hiring will be made final at an upcoming Hastings Public Schools board meeting. His tentative start date is July 6.
