One more cool day before the summer heat returns
August 13, 2023 - Evening forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Despite the clouds and a few showers in some spots, it turned out to be a great move-in day for college students across the area. A few light showers are still possible this evening, especially east and south of the Tri-Cities. Otherwise, skies will be clearing overnight with cooler air moving in on breezy northwesterly winds. In fact, temperatures becoming rather chilly by tomorrow morning by August standards. Lows tomorrow morning ranging from the upper 40s northwest to the upper 50s southeast.
While most of us will be cloud free tomorrow, clouds and a few light showers will linger in eastern parts of the state thanks to wrap around moisture on the back end of an upper level low that will continue moving off to the east. Skies should be sunny for everyone by mid afternoon. It will be a cool day and breezy day as highs only find the mid to upper 70s across the area with north northwesterly winds between 15 and 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. The cool weather will be short-lived though as winds return from the south Tuesday. Highs rebounding back into the 80s.
Aside from summer heat returning by mid week, we will get a break from the rain machine this week as we enter a drier weather pattern. At least through the next 5 days. There will be several systems that move through the next seven days. The first one will be in the form of a cold front Wednesday night. Right now this looks to be a dry front with not much moisture for it to work with. What we will receive with this front will be slightly cooler temperatures Thursday. A second system will move through sometime next weekend. This system could potentially bring slight chances of showers and storms next weekend. Until then, pretty much dry for all of us through the week. Highs through the week will start off cool tomorrow but get hot by mid week and remain hot into next weekend.
