A rollercoaster of temperatures the next several days before the heat sets in this weekend
August 16, 2023 - Morning forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After a pleasantly warm sunny day yesterday, the temperatures will be a bit more spicy today as breezy southerly flow ahead of a cold front ushers in very warm air from the south. Highs today will range from the low 90s east to 100 degrees west. Breezy south winds mainly for central and eastern parts of the state between 10 and 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. A few clouds will move through the state from north to south as the front pushes through. There won’t be any rain associated with this front due to the lack of moisture present. What we will receive though is a brief relief from the heat tomorrow with highs in the low 80s east to upper east west. The reprieve will be cut short as temperatures quickly rebound into the 90s on Friday. A few spots reaching 100 degrees plus out west.
The heat gets worse as we head into the weekend as highs breach the century mark on the thermometer across much of the area. The super summer heat sticks around into the beginning of next week. If you have any afternoon outdoor plans this weekend be sure to extra water, shade nearby and ways to take rest breaks in cooler buildings. It will be breezy through the weekend which may provide some relief but not enough as it will be a warm south southwest wind.
