Kool-Aid Days this weekend celebrates 25 years

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It will be 25 years of Kool-Aid Days from August 18-20.

Organizers will host events all over the city from Friday to Sunday.

The Hastings Museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., hosting yard games on Saturday and the egg drop contest on Sunday beginning with building at 1 p.m. and ending with the drop at 3 p.m.

The Adams County Fairgrounds on Friday will host Senior Fest: For 55+ Kids at Heart, featuring bingo, cookies and prizes for more experienced Kool-Aid drinkers.

The grand parade will be downtown at 10 a.m. Saturday which will go down 2nd Street and end at the Kool-Aid Man Announcer’s Stand on Denver Avenue.

Afterwards, the public can marvel at the world’s largest Kool-Aid stand at the fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

There are also a number of “Kool” contests throughout the day, starting with the Hastings Department of Parks and Recreation hosting a Flying Disc Golf Tournament Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and beginning 30 minutes later at Lake Hastings. There is also a Putting Contest at Southern Hills Golf Course.

The Kool-Aid Car Show on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the west end of the Activities Building at the Adams County Fairgrounds. Finally there will be the Kwickest Kool-Aid Drinking Contest with registration starting at 11:30 a.m. at the fairground and begins with preliminary rounds with four age categories at 12:30 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be the Kool-Aid Days 5K Fun Run and Walk with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the run occurring at 9 a.m. at Lake Hastings. Also on the lake will be the Kool-Aid Kardboard Boat Races registering at 12 p.m. and taking off at 2 p.m.
