Just a few more days of the horrendous heat before seasonable temps return
August 21, 2023 - Evening forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After a cooler day yesterday, the heat returned in full force today with highs breaching the 100 mark across the most of the area. Some drier air moved into western and central areas of the state making it feel less humid, that was not the case though for areas east where dew points remained in the sultry 70s. Many areas east feeling like Florida rather than eastern Nebraska.
It will be another humid night, especially for areas east of the Tri-Cities where dew points are higher. Skies will remain mostly clear tonight, although some fog may develop over far eastern where it will continue to be humid. Lows will mostly be in the 70s.
More of the same is expected the next few days, although the humid conditions will mostly be confined to far southeastern areas. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will be back into the low to mid 100s. Lows will continue to be in the 70s. Thursday into Friday will be our transition as a cold front begins to move in from the northwest. Thursday, northwestern areas will see highs in the low to mid 90s. The rest of the area will still top out in the upper 90s and low to mid 100s. The front will continue to pass through Thursday night into Friday. It’ll bring a chance for a few showers and thunderstorms. Friday will be cooler yet with highs from around 80° north to the mid 90s in the south. Over the weekend, highs will mostly be in the 80s, although on Saturday, there could be some 70s in the north. There will be a chance of thunderstorms each day, although there is still quite a bit of uncertainty for too many details right now. Indications are that it’ll warm up again next week, although to the upper 80s and low to mid 90s...not the triple digits.
