GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island City Council members will vote Tuesday at 7 p.m. on whether to allow cigar bars into the city limits.

The vote will change two ordinances that will allow and define cigar bars for the city.

The definition would keep in line with Nebraska state statutes.

Cigar bars as defined in the new ordinance cannot sell food, must receive 10 percent or more gross revenue from tobacco products, has a walk-in humidor on the premises, does not allow cigarettes or vape devices, and is not within 150 feet of a licensed childcare center or school.

The city council may approve, refer it to a committee, postpone or take no action on the issue.

The request to change the city code was made at a July 11 meeting, and the council members discussed a draft on July 25.
