HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Finally saw some much cooler temperatures today in the wake of a system that brought heavy rainfall to areas south of the interstate overnight. Skies cleared up by this afternoon making for a great day to head out to the Nebraska State Fair. Skies will remain clear overnight with light winds. Lows tonight a bit cool in the 50s across the region. The more seasonable temperatures will hold on to start the week. Highs Sunday afternoon ranging from the low 80s east to the upper 80s west.

Dry conditions are expected throughout next week. The week begins warm with hotter weather coming for the second half of the week. The exception could be a small chance Monday night into Tuesday, but for now, that part of the forecast remains dry. High temperatures on Sunday will will mostly be in the low to mid 80s. On Monday, they’ll be a little warmer in the mid to upper 80s. More of the same is expected on Tuesday. Wednesday could be just a little warmer as we start to see a few lower 90s in southern and western areas. More of that heat will build in for the end of next week and into the Labor Day weekend. We’ll mostly see highs in the 90s through at least Labor Day, although some may get close to 100°.
