Trading the smoky skies for smoking hot temperatures Labor Day weekend
August 31, 2023 - Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hazy and smoky skies this morning will begin to clear up as we head into the afternoon thanks to breezy south winds. While we may get rid of the wildfire smoke, we won’t be saying good-bye to sizzling summer heat just yet as thinks get hot this Labor Day weekend.
Starting off this morning with some smoke in the area. If you are sensitive to air pollutants, you may want to hold off those outdoor activities until late this afternoon. The hazy skies should clear up as we head into the afternoon. Sunny this afternoon with high temperatures in the mid 80s east to low 90s west. South winds between 10 and 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph in eastern parts of the state. Lighter winds out west. While today may be rather warm today, it will be nothing compared to what we will see this weekend. Highs Friday will ramp up into the low to mid 90s. Hotter Saturday with afternoon highs soaring into the upper 90s to low 100s. Expect dry, breezy and hot weather for the entire holiday weekend.
Not seeing any promising moisture chances over the next seven days. Just a slight chance of rain mid week next week with a weak cold front that will move through sometime Tuesday and Wednesday.
