LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - The scoreboard might not of reflected how fun of a day it was for the UNK volleyball team Wednesday in what was billed as ‘Volleyball Day in Nebraska.’

A 4th-ranked Wayne State team looked the part as they took the first two sets over the Lopers before then reaching the 15-point threshold in the third set. Fortunately for 16th-ranked UNK -- it was only an exhibition match.

“It was a nothing to lose situation for us other than for us to get experience and a little bit of shots to the pride, but we do have some young players, especially in those middle positions, mostly freshman or sophomores,” UNK Volleyball Coach Rick Squiers said after the match.

”This is kind of a game to go out and experience representing Nebraska as a whole for volleyball,” senior setter Jaden Ferguson added. “It wasn’t really about the outcome, so we learned a lot about our team and we were able to be a part of a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

On Wednesday, Sept. 6, UNK will be trying to break a record of their own for the attendance record for an NCAA Division II match, which sits at 3,888.
