The Omaha Supernovas becomes Nebraska’s first major sports professional team
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Nebraska officially has its first major pro team, the Omaha Supernovas. The Supernovas will partake in the Pro Volleyball Federation, the nation’s first major pro volleyball league.
“Nebraska is known for passionate volleyball fans across the state, and it was only right to give the state their own team,” said Co-Founder of the PVF Jimmy Burrows.
Having a volleyball league in the United States will give the best volleyball players an option to stay on U.S. soil and be closer to family.
“This will be the first year that I’m home for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s,” said Supernovas opposite hitter Nia Reed. “It means the world to professional volleyball players because we never got this opportunity in the past just to be on home soil to play in front of Americans. It is monumental.”
The Supernovas will give volleyball fans in Nebraska the chance to witness the world’s best volleyball players.
“In professional volleyball, the speed of the game is college. There are a ton of really strong and talented girls nowadays,” Supernovas outside hitter Gina Mancuso-Prososki said. “I swear there’s something in the water, but professional is just the next level; it gets faster, and I think fans are really going to enjoy the quick pace and all the action that takes place.”
The schedule hasn’t been posted yet, but to find out more information on the Supernovas, you can visit their website.
