One more toasty day with cooler weather on the way
September 3, 2023 - Evening forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Pretty much a repeat of yesterday as we saw highs this afternoon once again climb into the mid to upper 90s and low 100s. If you are like me and getting tired of the furnace-feeling weather, there is hope just around the corner. Yes, finally some cooler temperatures to enjoy as we will have a series of cold fronts push this hot dry mess out of the area by mid week.
Another warm evening with temperatures in the 90s before sunset. After sunset temperatures will quickly retreat back into the 70s. Clear skies this evening and overnight with lows in the low to upper 60s. Winds overnight in the 10 to 20 mph range becoming somewhat lighter early Monday morning, but picking up through the day tomorrow.
Labor Day should be the last of the hot and dry weather for this week. It will be a sunny day for your outdoor activities. It will be on the breezy side though. Winds will be out of the south southeast between 15 and 20 with gusts to around 30 mph. High temperatures Monday afternoon should be slightly cooler but still a bit hot. Expect highs to reach the mid to upper 90s. As a cold front begins to move into the western part of the state late Monday, there is a slight chance of showers or a thunderstorm in northwest parts of the viewing area. The best chance though will be in the panhandle. The cold front should move through our area early Tuesday. Once it pushes through, afternoon temperatures should not climb higher than the upper 80s. If the front slows down, temperatures may be warmer. Highs each day after Tuesday will remain in the 80s through next weekend. Looking for some moisture? There will be a few weak waves that begin moving through the area later in the week. These will only offer up slight shower and thunderstorm chances starting Wednesday night. Some of the models are hinting at possibly more significant amounts of rainfall next weekend. Could definitely use the rain since August was a bit drier than usual for most.
