Nebraska State Fair hosts Explore a Truck Expo

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Those at the Nebraska State Fair had a chance to explore a truck of their choosing. Outside of the Nebraska Building is the Explore a Truck Expo.

Kids were able to see the inside of a variety of trucks. The idea is to expose kids and families to different career choices. The Apollo Medical Helicopter was also on display.

Officials said it’s all about introducing kids to what’s possible.

“It’s just really nice to expose kids to some possibilities,” said Steve Kahle, Director of Business Development. “As they dream while they’re sitting in school and thinking about what they’re going to do when they get older, they can actually be expose to some of these things and maybe spark some interest in them that maybe they never knew they had.”

Kahle said he enjoys teaching people about service vehicles.

“What we really like is that our helicopters are always busy taking the people that on their worst day they take these people to hospitals that can help them and we just like to get exposure and let people be around the helicopters that are in their communities and see what they actually do.”

Kahle said he also wants kids to know they can start their medical career while in high school.
