YRTC escapees have been found

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Two teens who escaped from the Kearney Youth and Rehabilitation Center have been located.

Earlier in the day Thursday, the Kearney Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol searched for two inmates that took off from the facility.

Around 7:00 a.m. Thursday, scanner traffic indicated police were using drones near 17th Street and YRTC Road for two juvenile black males that had escaped.

KPD updated their Twitter account around 8:15 a.m. stating a police presence was in the area of 35th and Country Club searching for the two escapees.

Just before 10 a.m., police had caught up with one of them but were still looking for a 16-year-old last seen in the area of 2700 block of west 27th Street around 7 a.m.

It was around 1:30 p.m. when the Buffalo County Emergency Alert system notified that both escapees had been found.
