Wet and cooler weather return before another hit of summer warmth
September 15, 2023 Morning Forecast
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A line of showers from Northeast Nebraska to West Central Nebraska will slowly be pushing southeast behind a cold front as the day goes on. During the afternoon, some new showers and isolated thunderstorms may develop just ahead of this main line closer to a slowly advancing cold front pushing into southern and eastern portions of the Local4 viewing area. By the end of the afternoon and into the evening, this main line of showers will likely be south and southeast of the Tri-Cities area with some clearing off to the northwest. The line of showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue southeastward, but should be mostly cleared out by midnight. Some low clouds and fog may linger over southeastern areas through part of the morning tomorrow while much of the rest of the area clears up. High temperatures today will be cooler with the coolest temperatures where the clouds remain thickest and where the rain lasts much of the day. We’ll see highs from the upper 60s to the upper 70s. The warmest temperatures may end up being over Northern and Northwest Nebraska. Low temperatures tomorrow morning will drop to the upper 40s and low to mid 50s.
There should be a lot more sunshine on Saturday, although a second cold front passing south through the area may bring a few extra clouds and even some sprinkles. There may also be some upper level smoke around on Saturday. Highs on Saturday look to get up into the mid to upper 70s and lower 80s. With skies being clear Saturday night, it’ll be a bit chillier with lows in the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s. Sunday will be sunny and warm with highs from the mid 70s east to the mid 80s west.
Warmer temperatures will return for much of next week before a cool-down at the end of the week. Monday will be mainly sunny and warmer with highs in the mid to upper 80s. It’ll also be breezy. It’ll be in the mid to upper 80s again on Tuesday. It’ll likely be dry, but I did include a small chance of rain and thunderstorms. Temperatures will slowly be coming down Wednesday into Thursday as a chance of showers and thunderstorms continues. Highs on Wednesday look to be in the low to mid 80s. On Thursday, they’ll be in the upper 70s and low to mid 80s. By Friday, it looks like it’ll start to cool down even more for the final day on summer with highs in the mid to upper 70s. By next weekend, highs could be down into the upper 60s and low to mid 70s.
