Bear at Disney World captured; areas of Magic Kingdom reopened
ORLANDO, Fla. (Gray News) - A real black bear spotted in a tree at Walt Disney World on Monday was captured as the theme park reopened parts of the Magic Kingdom that had been temporarily closed.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said its bear management team had successfully captured a female adult bear, according to NPR.
WESH captured aerial footage of workers carrying it away in a large, white tarp from the area. NBC News said parts of Frontierland, Adventureland and other areas were again open to the public.
The state conservation commission said the bear was spotted near the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland, according to WKMG. Staff had been sent out to capture and relocate it.
A commission spokesperson told NBC it was likely in search of food before going into hibernation.
