HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Temperatures today will once again soar well above average as they reach the upper 80s and lower 90s. Like yesterday, I wouldn’t rule out some mid 90s. It won’t be as breezy as yesterday with most having winds remaining under 10 mph. There will be a bit more of a breezy over Southeast Nebraska. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny as clouds may thicken a bit as the day goes on. Later this afternoon, some isolated showers and thunderstorms will again be possible. The chance will continue through the mid-evening. After that, skies will be clearing up. Lows tonight will range from around 50 out west to the lower 60s over the east and southeast.

Wednesday will again be quite warm, but slightly cooler. Highs will mostly be in the mid to upper 80s, although some getting above 90° would be possible. Skies will be mainly sunny much of the day. Southeasterly breezes will be around 5 to 15 mph. Once again, late in the day and into the evening, there will be a slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. There could some increasing low clouds for parts of the area later Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

With more clouds around on Thursday and a chance of showers and thunderstorms (mainly in the afternoon and evening), temperatures will come down some. Highs will be in the mid 70s to the mid 80s. Winds will be breezy out of the southeast. The chance of rain will increase Thursday night. Isolated severe storms cannot be ruled out. Rain and thunderstorm chances will pick up even more on Friday. Once again, severe storms will be possible...especially later Friday into Friday night. Highs will range from the lower 70s north to the low/mid 80s southwest.

Showers and some thunderstorms may continue on Saturday, but some forecast models are trying to push some dry air into this system, so I have reduced the chance of rain a bit. It’ll be a cooler day for the area with highs from the upper 60s north to the upper 70s south/southeast. There may be one last chance of showers on the back side of the departing system Saturday night, but dry weather with sunshine is expected to return Sunday through the middle of next week. High temperatures on Sunday look to be mainly in the 70s, although may get to around 80° in Southwest Nebraska. Monday through Wednesday, highs look to range from the mid 70s to the mid 80s with the warmest temperatures in Southwest Nebraska.
