One more warm day...Rain clouds late week
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After temperatures soared into the 90s today, a few showers and thunderstorms will be possible this evening over south central Nebraska and North Central Kansas. The precipitation will be hit and miss so most locations will stay dry. After sunset most of activity will start to diminish. On Tuesday a surface trough will push across the region. While it won’t be as hot as Monday’s readings, some late summer warmth will be in play with highs in the upper 80s to around 90. A few thunderstorms could ignite along the trough to the west of the Tri-Cities and push east in the evening. Again coverage will be minimal.
Temperatures will trend cooler each day as the week goes on. An upper low pressure areas will develop in the Western U.S. and track onto the Great Plains, where it will get cutoff from the upper level steering winds.
As the low meanders in the region there will be periods of showers and thunders from Thursday through the weekend. Temperatures will range from the mid 80s on Wednesday to the lower 70s by Sunday.
