NEAR MARQUETTE, Neb. (KSNB) - A motorcyclist is in an Omaha hospital with injuries suffered in a Wednesday morning crash in the fog.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy said the crash happened just after 7 a.m. on Highway 14 about two miles south of Marquette. McCoy said a northbound SUV driven by Sheila Hiebner, 31, was passing another vehicle in the fog when it struck a southbound motorcycle.

McCoy said the motorcyclist was seriously injured and was taken first to CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island and later flown to Bergan Mercy hospital in Omaha. McCoy identified the motorcyclist on Thursday as 31-year-old Travis Pieper of Gothenburg. He remains in critical condition as of Thursday.

He said Hiebner suffered minor injuries and was taken to Grand Island Regional Medical Center.

McCoy said the crash is still under investigation.
