GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Aksarben Stock Show donated 570 pounds of chicken to local Grand Island service organizations Friday afternoon. The products were harvested from the stock show competition last weekend and processed Monday.

During the presentation, Aksarben Stock Show Manager Jacque Johnson said, “Aksarben Stock Show is a part of our community in Grand Island and central Nebraska. The agricultural community is very generous, and we are happy to help as we can.”

This is the fourth consecutive year the stock show has provided products to the local community. Organizations receiving the donation were the Salvation Army, Hope Harbor, and Crossroads.

Dan Rogers, Program Director of Crossroads added, " this donation will help us serve people who come to our facility and be added to the food boxes we need to fight hunger in Grand Island.

Completing its 96th year, the Aksarben Stock Show is one of the Midwest’s top stock competitions for youth 9 to 19. Dates for the 2024 Aksarben Stock Show are set for Sept. 26 to Sept. 29, 2024. Information on entering the show can be found here.
