MINDEN, Neb. (KSNB) - Jensen Memorial Library held an event in downtown Minden Saturday afternoon, but it had nothing to do with books, instead it had more to do with vehicles. The event let community members experience how they operate.

Fifteen vehicles showed up to give kids and adults more of an idea of how the vehicles work.

Chief Brad Butler with the Minden Police Department said it is a great way to connect with the people they serve.

“It is always good to have a connection to the kids, to the parents, to anybody in the community,” Chief Butler said. “Whenever we can interact with them when we aren’t having to interact with them is the best way.”

After libraries across the state started doing this event, last year the Jensen Memorial Library wanted to follow in those footsteps and Mary Jo Froid says this year had been a great turnout in attendance.

“We have a lot more people participating, a lot of community members coming in. They were just as excited with the kids being involved,” Froid said. “We have had so many people coming up to us thanking us for offering something for the kids. It has been fantastic.”
