One more nice day sneaks into the forecast the rest of this month, but mostly cold will take over. And there could be some holiday weekend snow.

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Sunshine has returned to the area for a couple of days. Behind a cold front, winds are blustery and will remain that way today. They will be out of the north northwest at 15 to 25+ mph. Gusts of 30 to 40 mph will be possible. Temperatures will remain chill today with highs ranging from the lower 40s northeast to the mid 50s southwest. Winds will die down tonight and skies will remain mainly clear. This will allow temperatures to drop into the 20s. Winds will increase out of the west southwest tomorrow ahead of the next cold front approaching from the north. This will give us one last nice day for the month of November. High temperatures on Wednesday will range from the upper 50s east to the lower 70s west. The cold front will push south through the area late Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. Winds will turn north northeasterly and will be breezy by Thursday morning. Lows Thursday morning will be down into the mid to upper 20s and lower 30s. Thanksgiving will be a very chilly and breezy day with more clouds around. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. High temperatures will range from around 30° up north to the mid 40s in the southeast. No moisture is expected.

Looking ahead to Black Friday, we’ll see clouds around and snow dives southward into Western Nebraska. The latest forecast models are keeping Central and Eastern Nebraska snow free during the day. Winds will continue to be breezy and it’ll be quite cold. Highs will range from the mid 20s northwest to the mid 30s southeast. Friday night into Saturday, snow will then push east across the area before winding down Saturday night into early Sunday morning. The good news is that there shouldn’t be much wind to go along with the snow. The bad news is that during this heavier travel time, there will likely be impacts to travel as some locations receive several inches of snow. It’s still early, but I would gear the higher snow totals toward southwest areas and lower totals to the northeast. It’s still too early to delve into specific amounts though.

Beyond the snow, it’ll likely remain chilly for the rest of the month. But only small chances of moisture are expected at this point.
