Lincoln hospice patient hosts art show
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - For one Lincoln hospice patient, it has been her lifelong wish to host her own art show. Thanks to her caregivers and a local art studio, that dream became reality on Friday.
Shelly Barrett said when she first entered hospice care, she didn’t know if she would be able to share her art, but now it’s on full display. She’s named it the From Pencils to Pixels Art Show.
The event took place at the 48 Gallery on Friday, but will stay throughout November.
“I think just seeing friends, family, co-workers, and all of that is probably the most exciting part of the whole thing,” Barrett said. “I mean, yeah, it’s fun to sell the art, and I’m obsessed by doing it, but just having people around and sharing it with them, that’s what I’m really enjoying the most.“
Barrett said she’s been an artist ever since she can remember, and her work is a reflection of all parts of her life.
