Joe Scanlan

Joe grew up in Arlington, TX, where he discovered his passion for sports early on. Growing up, he played baseball and dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player someday.

Following high school, he received a scholarship to play baseball at Beloit College in Wisconsin. While there, Joe joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, a decision he says was the best he made in college. Also at Beloit, he became the "Voice of the Bucs", broadcasting football and basketball games for the livestream. He transferred home to UT-Arlington after injuries ended his baseball career. He graduated cum laude from UTA with a degree in broadcasting and a minor in journalism. While at UTA, he was the Sports Director for UTA Radio, broadcasting volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball games for the station. He also interned with the Cotton Bowl in 2018, where he covered Clemson and Notre Dame before the CFP Semifinals.

After graduation, Joe worked as a news reporter for KTEN News in Ardmore, OK, where he enjoyed covering local stories for Southern Oklahoma.

Joe is a passionate Texas Longhorn fan, and enjoys rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, and Boston Red Sox. He also enjoys watching movies and listening to sports podcasts. If you see him out and about, say hi!
