Sarah Bekele joined the KSNB Local4 News Team in October 2019 after spending a year reporting and anchoring in North Platte at NBC Nebraska News 2.
From Indiana to Nebraska, with deep Ethiopian roots, Sarah Bekele is excited to join the KSNB Local4 News Team. Originally from Plainfield, Indiana, Sarah attended Indiana University and graduated in May of 2017. The Media School at Indiana University is where she discovered her love for reporting.
Sarah’s first broadcasting job was right here in Nebraska! She began as a reporter at NBC Nebraska News 2 in North Platte, and quickly moved to an anchor/producer role as the station’s morning news anchor. She learned a lot about western Nebraska in a short time covering an array of events.
Her field experience is highlighted through her most recent coverage of the devastation left behind in western Nebraska as a result of severe weather. She recalls what it was like seeing the damage left behind and how community members came together. Sarah said, “I learned first-hand what #NebraskaStrong really meant.”.
Before her first job in the business, Sarah Bekele was a reporting intern for WTIU/WFIU News, the Bloomington, IN-based PBS and NPR affiliate station.
Sarah’s goal is to be creatively objective and tell stories that matter. She is excited to bring her passion for telling stories and sharing valuable information with the viewers of Local4.
During her spare time, she loves listening to music, reading, trying new foods, exploring different cultures and learning new things.
Sarah loves meeting new people so if you have any story ideas, questions, or comments, don’t hesitate to email her!
