Kit Cloninger is the weekend meteorologist/reporter for the Local4 Weather Team.

Kit Cloninger is a North Carolina native, growing up in Belmont, a small town within the Charlotte metropolitan area. He graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. While at Charlotte, Kit interned at WCNC with Brad Panovich learning presentation skills and the graphics software also used at Local4. Immediately after graduating, Kit moved to the Quad Cities in Illinois and Iowa where he worked at WHBF in Rock Island, Illinois.

As a kid, Kit had many ambitions in the sciences, including astronomy, biology, meteorology, and physics. His involvement in theatre, however, heavily influenced his later passion for communication of meteorology. Kit attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he earned a BS in Meteorology. During his time at university, he interned at NBC Charlotte beginning to hone his skills as a broadcaster.

Upon graduation, Kit moved to Davenport, Iowa, to be the weekend meteorologist at WHBF in Rock Island, Illinois. Living in the "Quad Cities" allowed Kit to fulfill a childhood wish to cross the Mississippi River. He did so each day driving to and from work.

One year later, he took his first opportunity to work in the Central Plains and moved to Grand Island Nebraska. Now working at KSNB Local4, he continues as both Weekend Meteorologist, and Multimedia Journalist. Since moving here, Kit has enjoyed the diverse nature of Nebraska weather, as well as learning more about the geography of the region, beyond the agricultural side.

If you see Kit, he is a very personable guy and is always willing to chat about the weather with you! In his free time, Kit has been learning more about photography, and enjoys learning anything new in the world of science. Kit has a passion for bicycling, and was also one of the top fencers at UNC Charlotte when he was in school.
