Zach Williamson joined the Local4 Sports team in February 2019.
Zach is originally from the Council Bluffs/Omaha area. Zach graduated high school as a four sport varsity letter-winner, baseball being his favorite. He then went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with minors in Sports and Recreation and Business from Iowa State University, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in December 2018.
While in college, Zach hosted a weekly sports show called “Cyclone InCYders” on the student ran station ISUtv, where he was also a sports anchor and sports director. In addition, Zach was a sports analyst and broadcasted games live for the radio station 88.5 KURE.
He has held many internships within his short time in the field. His first was as a sports intern at WOWT-6 Omaha, NE where he covered his favorite sporting event in the world, the College World Series. He held two internships in Des Moines, with WOI Local 5 and the Chicago Cubs Triple A affiliate Iowa Cubs. Most recently he interned at Cyclones.tv, one of 3 universities in the country to maintain its own athletics tv network. Providing various content for their 24/7 cable television show, social media and online network.
On Zach’s TV, you will always find a sports game (especially when his favorites are playing: Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and Iowa State Cyclones), or whatever he’s binge-watching on Netflix or Hulu. He loves to be active and it’s no surprise to see him golfing, disc-golfing, going on a run, or playing basketball on a sunny day. Although he is a Cyclone at heart, he is beginning to come around to the Huskers.
