KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Nebraskans sure know how to give after helping push Give Where You Live over the million dollar mark.
The 24-hour giving event supports 161 nonprofits in the Kearney area.
Right now, these are only preliminary numbers, but the event raised $1,041,027 with 5,321 donations to 161 organizations
The Central Nebraska Veterans Memorial raised the most at $102, 680. Buffalo County Historical Society/Trails & Rails Museum and HelpCare Clinic came in second and third. Again, these are just preliminary numbers.
This unique day of fundraising is being hosted by the Kearney Area Community Foundation. It runs Thursday, December 6, from midnight to midnight.
Community members were asked to make donations and show support for the local nonprofit organizations that positively impact our lives every day. There are 161 nonprofits taking part in this year's event.
At the conclusion of the giving day, the Kearney Area Community Foundation will verify all gifts and award nonprofits matching funds from the Challenge Match Pool.
