HOLDREGE, Neb (KSNB) A Phelps county judge Monday appointed the Nebraska Attorney General's office to prosecute a Holdrege murder case.

Manuel Gomez, 45, Holdrege, is charged with two counts of murder and numerous other related felonies in the shooting deaths of two Holdrege men February 21.

Raymond Burton, 65, and David Rogers, 54, were shot and killed that afternoon in their Holdrege apartment building.

A spokesperson at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney Tuesday said Doyle Morse, 64, Holdrege, had improved to fair condition. Morse was also shot and wounded during the shooting spree.

Gomez is scheduled in court this Friday, March 1, for his next hearing.
