Benefits of last-minute Christmas shopping

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- When you think about last-minute shopping, stress and long lines may come to mind. But for some people, the deals before Christmas make it all worth it.

JCPenney in Grand Island said they have many deals for people to check out before Christmas.

"We have our continued jewelry sale that goes until Dec. 24 and we have sales all day everyday," JCPenney's Merchandise Associate Nora Andrade said. "You get 20 percent off if you use your JCPenney's card on top of our sales prices."

Even though the deals are good, some people still recommend shopping earlier.

"There's been some good deals today, but things are a little more picked over, so sometimes it's better to try early," Miranda Freeman, an Aurora resident said.

Shopping last-minute is easier and faster if you are prepared.

"There's going to be tons of last-minute shoppers, because life is busy for all of us nowadays," Andrade said. "If you know what you're coming in for, you can get them quickly."

Advice shoppers agree with.

"I say make a checklist, that's what I would do," Giovanna Lopez, a Grand Island resident, said. "Name the person and underneath say what they would like and maybe go off and tally everything."

JCPenney will be closed on Christmas day, but Saturday they will be open until 6 p.m.
