HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) Big band sounds will fill the air of the Masonic Center in Hastings on Saturday in a effort to help the upkeep of that same building. Bobby Layne and His Orchestra will perform in concert. Layne is a long-time bandmaster in Nebraska.
Funds raised from the event will go toward the maintenance of the Masonic Center, which was built 90 years ago.
"All monies we raise from this and any other concerts will go toward rehabbing the building over the years," said Phil Odom of the Masonic Center. "And keeping it in the shape that it needs to be."
Odom says much of the building is still original to when it was built. They are seeing increased use of the building from the community, but would like to see even more.
"I still say it's the best kept secret in Hastings," said Mike Anderson who is helping to bring the orchestra to town.
The music begins at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Once the concert is over, there will be a dance held in the main ballroom.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or by calling (402) 462-5813.
