Birthing Pavilion offers State Fair a look at agricultural production
Agriculture plays a major part in the state fair. For years, people have been coming out to the Birthing Pavilion to watch farm animals give birth.
This year, there are a handful of cows, sheep, pigs, and chickens being born. The vets there say they often get asked if watching the birth bothers people, especially children.
One said that it is all part of the cycle of food production in Nebraska and people like to see it.
“The kids really enjoy it,” Veterinarian David Lee said. “It gives us a chance to showcase agriculture and put our best food forward as far as the pork production, and beef production, and poultry.”
Doctor Lee says that many chicks are being hatched each day. The pigs are past their due date and will have their piglets at any time.
