HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) Final plans are being put in place for the 9th annual Do the Brew event in downtown Hastings. Over 20 craft brewers from around the region will be providing samples of their products during April 27 event.
Jessi Hoeft, from First Street Brewing Company and one of the event sponsors, says they look to have their best event ever.
"It's exciting right now because we have the most ever Nebraska breweries," said Hoeft. "We're at 22 or 23 right now."
She adds that the event is also a fund raiser for three local non-profits, the Hastings Community Arts Council, Hastings Young Professionals and the Nebraska Craft Brewer's Guild.
Maggie Vaughn from the Hastings Young Professionals calls it a good event for their group.
"We like to say it's the funnest fund raiser of the year in Hastings," said Vaughn. It's a great opportunity for Hastings Young Professionals to get involved, to volunteer and we use the funds we get to give right to the community."
Tickets can only be purchased on line at the Do the Brew web site. Advance tickets are $30, at the door they will be $40.
Do the Brew is held outside on the streets at the corner of St. Joseph Avenue and 1st Street in downtown Hastings. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the City Auditorium. Because of the possibility of moving inside, ticket sales will be capped at 600.
