CCC using 3D printers to create frames for medical face shields

The need for medical face shields has increased considerably since the COVID-19 outbreak and Central Community College is playing a vital role in meeting the demand.

Drafting and Design Technology instructors Amy Stuart (Grand Island Campus) and Gene Friesen (Hastings Campus) are utilizing CCC’s 3D printers to produce headgear frames for medical face shields.

Once the frames are finished (see attached photo), they are delivered to various health departments and agencies that affix them to transparent shields. Once complete, the medical face shields are given to area health care facilities such as CHI Health St. Francis, Mary Lanning Healthcare and medical clinics in the Tri-Cities.
