Fairfield woman killed in Monday SUV-grain truck crash

A rural Fairfield woman died in a car-grain truck crash Monday near Fairfield.

CLAY COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB) - A Fairfield woman is dead after a Monday car crash involving a grain truck.

The Clay County sheriff said Haley Bohlen, 31, of rural Fairfield, was killed when the SUV she was driving collided with the rear of a grain truck which was slowing down to turn into a field. Both vehicles were west-bound on Highway 74 about 1.5 miles west of Fairfield. The accident happened about 4:10 Monday afternoon.

The sheriff said a baby riding in the Bohlen vehicle was injured and was being treated at Mary Lanning hospital in Hastings. The sheriff's office said the baby was recovering.

The grain truck driver was also taken to Mary Lanning for minor injuries.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Fairfield Fire and Rescue, Clay Center Fire and Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol, Clay County Highway Department and the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
