Grand Island Senior High grad Cole Evans is transferring to Parkland College, a junior school in Champaign, Ill. Evans spent a year at Creighton before deciding to make the move to Parkland.

"Loved the coaches there. It's a couple of young guys that really fit the way that I like to play baseball and felt like it was the best fit for me," Evans said.

He said he enjoyed his time in Omaha and there are no bridges burned.

"You got to be at a place where you're 100 percent sure you're going to be the most comfortable and where you think you're going to fit in," he said. "I loved all those coaches that I played for there and it just wasn't the best fit for me."

Evans is on the Hastings Sodbusters roster and plans to play for them if the Expedition League holds a season. Afterwards, he hopes to head to Champaign to play fall baseball.
