Crews responded to a structure fire around 3:41 a.m. at 609 N. Nebraska Avenue.

Minden Fire Chief Tom Brown said there was heavy fire and smoke coming out of the basement when crews arrived which hampered their attack mode and backed them out one time.

He said the homeowners called 911 and were able to get out of the house, though one person did have to go to the hospital.

Chief Brown said the woman was transported to Kearney County Health Services with non life-threatening injuries. No firefighters were injured.

"Everybody had a job and everybody did their work very efficiently," he said.

It took a little under two hours to get the fire in a comfortable spot, he said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, but the chief said the home is a total loss due to smoke damage.

Fire crews from Minden, Axtell, Wilcox, Hildreth, and Franklin all responded.
