Grand Island firefighters will head to Colorado this week to honor one of their own at a fallen firefighter memorial service.

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) will add 271 fallen firefighters from the U.S. and Canada to the Wall of Honor on Saturday, September 15.

Three Nebraska firefighters will be added to the wall during this year's ceremony, including former IAFF Local 647 member Jedd Bohlender.

Bohlender served the City of Grand Island for 21 years as a paramedic and firefighter. He died of cancer in 2017.

The 32nd IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial service will be held in Colorado Springs.

The annual ceremony remains an uplifting service for the families, friends and loved ones, celebrating the lives, heroism and accomplishments of our union’s bravest of the brave.

The ceremony will be streamed via broadcast video at noon HERE.

Members of Grand Island Professional Firefighters have been members of the IAFF since 1939. IAFF is a union that represents firefighters and ems providers around the world.
