Harvard fire officials say there were flames coming out of the home's roof when they were called out just after 11:00 p.m. Sunday. Pictures posted by the Clay Center Fire Department on their Facebook page showed the ranch style home heavily involved in flames.
All three family members, and their pets, were out of the home when fire fighters arrived. No fire fighters were injured either from the fire that appeared to have started in the attic.
Fire departments from Clay Center, Glenvil and Sutton assisted in fighting the fire. A ladder truck unit from Sutton was credited with being particularly helpful in putting out the fire.
The State Fire Marshal has been called in to assist in the investigation.
