Four arrested in connection to assault on officer
Four people were arrested early Monday morning after an early morning fight led to an officer getting assaulted, police said.
Grand Island Police Captain Jim Duering said Officer Jose Rodriguez was called to a residence on the 600 block of W 1st Street.
When Officer Rodriguez arrived on scene, Duering said Rodriguez witnessed a physical altercation going on between multiple people, which he tried to stop with lawful commands.
The four people; 26-year-old Waldy Perez-Rojo, 30-year-old Danasiy Perez-Rojo, 26-year-old Barbara Martinez-Liranza and 30-year-old Miguel Reyes-Molina; refused to stop fighting.
When officers arrested Waldy and Danasiy, both resisted, and Danasiy jumped on top of Officer Rodriguez's back and scratched him, causing him to bleed.
Capt. Duering said Reyes-Molina was seen pushing Martinez-Liranza to the floor.
Waldy was arrested for obstruction of a police officer and resisting arrest.
Danaisy was arrested for obstruction of a police officer, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.
Martinez-Liranza was arrested for obstructing a police officer.
Reyes-Molina was arrested for obstructing a police officer and 3rd degree assault.
All four were medically cleared and transported to the Hall County Department of Corrections.
