GI Sycamore Underpass to close for roughly two weeks for construction

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB)- Grand Island's Sycamore Underpass is scheduled to be closed on Monday, May 18th at 9:30am for an anticipated two (2) weeks.

The Diamond Engineering Company will finish concrete rail construction and painting of the metal pipe railing during the closure.

The Sycamore Underpass Project is nearing completion, which included complete removal and reconstruction of the South Front Street Bridge and Roadway; reconstruction of the Sycamore Street Frontage Road between 3rd Street and South Front Street; storm sewer construction; removal and replacement of the storm water lift station; underpass retaining wall concrete repair; handrail repair; and water main abandonment.

On August 28, 2018, City Council awarded the construction contract to Diamond Engineering Company of Grand Island, Nebraska for $1,794,404.38.
