Grand Island Police investigating $20,000 jewelry theft

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A shoplifting heist at the Conestoga Mall has left one jewelry store out thousands of dollars.


According to Grand Island Police, the incident happen on Saturday around noon at Riddle's Jewelry.

Police said three people--two males and a female-- got away with 15 necklaces valued at nearly $22,000.

Police said the incident unfolded as the female suspect spoke with a store employee. While the employee was distracted the two males apparently broke open a display case and took an entire display board.

GIPD said the event was well orchestrated and that they are studying surveillance video and working with other law enforcement agencies to try and solve the crime. The investigation is on going.
