Grand Island woman falls victim to computer scam

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand island woman has fallen victim to a computer scam that has left her out a sizable amount of money.

Grand Island police report that the 74 year old woman received an alert on her computer seemingly from "Microsoft," stating a virus had been detected.

Over the course of several months the victim was contacted by someone requesting money for services, and then was convinced to buy google pay cards.

The victim ending up paying near $18,000.

The investigation continues but police officials fear this may be an overseas operation.
