Hastings, Neb. - (KSNB) The flooding disaster can take a mental toll on the best of us. Hastings College is making sure their students can concentrate on their studies by offering students flood relief scholarships.
Any student who is currently enrolled at Hastings College can apply.
The scholarship comes from more than 100 community members as well alumni donations.
To date the flooding has damaged, roads, towns, homes, businesses, cars and farms. Some say it is the worst flooding Nebraska has ever seen.
As families and communities are rebuilding, Hastings College wants to make sure its students don't have to be burdened while working on their degrees.
Susan Meeske, Executive Vice President, Student Enrollment
"Part of my role is to make sure college is affordable and accessible to students and I think this is just another way that we continue to do that at Hastings," said Susan Meeske, Executive Vice President, Student Enrollment & Engagement.
The scholarships can be used for tuition assistance, living arrangements, food or clothing. The amount is based on what the student may need.
