Hastings College students stuff shoe boxes for Samaritans's Purse
Members of the "Crew" Organization at Hastings College took the time to give back for this holiday season. They partnered with "Samaritan's Purse" for their "Operation Christmas Child" Project, collecting gifts for kids in need.
The students stuffed boxes with items they thought the kids will enjoy, close to 150 boxes were given out.
Boxes were returned in full force Monday night from students. Samaritan's Purse is a christian humanitarian aid organization that provides aid to people in physical need. Their missionary work spans the globe from local efforts to international assistance. Along with stuffing the boxes with gifts, the students were also asked to write a personal note to the kids. They had their choice of stuffing a box for a boy or girl.
"It was fun going out and picking different toys and items to put inside the box. Once you see it all together you think, oh, this is really nice and you picture the child's face on Christmas morning when they open it and see the presents that you put inside for them," said Hallie Murray, Sophomore, Hastings College.
You can also track your package to be alerted when it is received by the child your box is given to. If you would like to help out you can decorate your own shoe box or order them from Samaritan's Purse website.
