Hastings Library joining in special week celebration

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) Employees of Hastings Public Library are embracing their favorite week of the year. It's National Library Week.

Amy Hafer, the director of the library, says they have already honored their employees and they plan to put the spotlight on their Bookmobile on Wednesday.

The bookmobile will be at their downtown location for an open house from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. for people that maybe haven't seen it for a while. After all, the bookmobile is usually out on the road.

"It gets used a lot out in the county by the county schools", said Hafer. "A lot of day cares and senior centers around town use it for people who can't get to the physical library downtown."

Even when National Library Week ends, Hafer says they still have great activities coming up. April 28 will be Sharpie Painting for Teens and May 4 is Free Comic Book Day.

Hafer says they will have free comics to give out May 4. Also, Spiderman will make an appearance during story time. The day will be capped off with a presentation by Bob Hill, a cartoonist, writer and editor for Marvel and D.C. Comics.

Kids will be able to make their own superhero and join in a parade.

More information on these and other events can be found on the Hastings Library web site.
