Hastings Salvation Army needs more winter coats
The Hastings Salvation Army has seen a huge increase in the number of people requesting winter coats this year, and needs your help to keep meeting the need.
In just over a month, they gave out 90 winter coats. That's almost double the amount they distribute the entire year. The Salvation Army gave out two-thirds of the coats in November.
Now that their coat room is thinning out, the Salvation Army needs your help to fill it back up so they have enough coats for more requests.
"It's very important that we as the Salvation Army, that we get back to the community of Hastings," said Major Dale Brandenburg, Hastings Salvation Army. "So when someone walks in here, if there's any way possible that we can meet their need, we're going to do everything possible that we can."
The Salvation Army in Hastings is especially in need of small children's winter coats, and large-sized men's winter coats. Brandenburg said they can always use women's winter coats too.
You can bring donations to the Hastings location during their regular business hours, or by appointment. Brandenburg said not to leave donations on the porch, because they may not get them that way.
