Hastings YMCA adds new program
Hastings YMCA has added a new program aimed at educating participants on long-term fitness and nutrition tips.
Beyond the Scale: Fitness and Nutrition Coaching will run from Jan. 6 through March 23 and encourages people to work on nutrition and fitness goals beyond a short term diet or short term goals.
The program will bring in a registered dietician, physician assistant and professionals in the health department. It's all about starting 2020 off the right way and help people go beyond a diet-to-diet lifestyle.
"We really want to help people learn how to go beyond that diet-to-diet lifestyle because we know that diets aren't a lifetime thing and then what happens is people usually gain that weight back," Erika Knott, Hastings YMCA Wellness Director said. "Our goal is really to help our participants extend their learning into their lifestyle and not make it a short-term thing."
The program is part of a series of challenges the YMCA is offering. Included in the challenges are two triathlons, the Turkey Trot and a variety of fitness benchmarks.
All challenges and programs are not member-exclusive and by signing up for Beyond the Scale is discounted personal training for participants.
