The Nebraska State Patrol and Hall County Sheriff's Office are investigating the cause of a crash involving two semi-trucks on I-80 Eastbound near Grand Island.

Emergency crews on scene told NBC Nebraska a semi-truck hauling potatoes crashed into the back of another truck between the Locust Street exit and NE 2 exit around 1:00pm Sunday afternoon. The crash ripped open the cab of the truck that was hauling potatoes, and produce spilled all over the roadway.

Authorities say the driver of the truck had to be extricated, but he was alert and holding a conversation with crews on scene.

According to reports from the Nebraska Department of Roads all lanes are now open on I-80. Authorities are still investigating the cause.
